We often hear “they don’t build them like they used to” and when it comes to passenger safety we say “and we’re glad they don’t”. Today’s vehicles are designed to absorb the energy in an impact, keep passengers in their seats and cushion any movement for the passenger by deploying airbags when needed. To show the difference, click on the video below which compares 50 years of technological advances with an offset collision between a 1959 Chevrolet BelAir and a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. Pay attention to the view inside the passenger compartment…and you’ll agree that “we’re glad they don’t build them like they used to”.
